Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics. Oxolin Darnytsia is an antiviral agent for external use. has virucidal activity, blocking the binding sites of the influenza virus (mainly type A2) with the surface of the cell membrane, protects cells from the penetration of the virus into them. herpes simplex viruses, herpes zoster, adenoviruses, viruses of infectious warts and molluscum contagiosum are also sensitive to oxolin.
Pharmacokinetics. The drug is non-toxic, with local application no systemic effect was detected, it does not accumulate in the body. When applied to the mucous membrane, 20% of the drug is absorbed, it is excreted mainly by the kidneys within 1 day.
Indication
Prevention of influenza, treatment of viral rhinitis.
Application
Prevention of influenza: the ointment is applied to the mucous membrane of the nose daily 2-3 times a day for 25 days or during contact with patients.
Treatment of viral rhinitis: the ointment is applied to the mucous membrane of the nose daily 2-3 times a day for 3-4 days.
Contraindication
Individual hypersensitivity to the active substance or to other components of the medicinal product.
Side effects
A burning sensation may occur at the place of application of the ointment, which quickly passes; rhinorrhea; blue coloration of the mucous membrane.
Special instructions
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. there are no data on the safety and effectiveness of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding. it is undesirable to use the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Children. There are no data on the safety and effectiveness of the drug for the treatment of children.
The ability to influence the speed of reaction when driving a motor vehicle or working with other mechanisms. Oxolin does not affect the speed of neuromuscular conduction, in recommended doses it can be used by people who drive vehicles and work with complex mechanisms.
Interactions
Simultaneous intranasal use with adrenomimetic intranasal agents can lead to drying of the nasal mucosa.
Overdose
Cases of overdose have not been reported so far.
Symptoms: burning sensations of the nasal mucosa and rhinorrhea are possible.
Treatment: stop using the ointment, wash off the remains of the product with warm water.
